A member of Penrith Panthers’ Ladies team has made a rapid rise to the top League in the women’s game.
At the week-end Josie Scrimgour made her debut for Darlington Mowden Park Sharks in their Cup match with Exeter.
This is only her second year in the game and last season for Penrith she scored 24 tries in only 13 games.
She went on to win Penrith’s Player of the Season for outstanding performances week after week.
This season she has been dual registered between Penrith and DMP.
A Penrith spokesman said: “Everyone at the club wishes her all the best and well done. We are sure she will be with DMP full-time before long.”
It was a chastening experience for the Sharks as the Allianz Cup game with the holders Exeter Chiefs ended 73-0 in favour of the south west side.
But winger Josie hopes to get her next chance in three weeks time when DMP play against Worcester Warriors.
Josie, who lives in Penrith, went to school in Keswick and played the odd youth game before taking-up the game seriously last season.
She was recommended to the Darlington club by her club coach and after some trial training sessions was invited back for pre-season and then signed.
