Helen Skelton seventh on Strictly Come Dancing’s leaderboard

Helen Skelton’s journey on Strictly Come Dancing continues after she and her partner Gorka Marquez scored 27 on the live show.

The pair performed a cha cha cha and filming in Penrith showed Gorka telling Helen to believe in herself.

Gorka told her to work on her ‘sexiness’ but she kept saying ‘I’m functional, I’m efficient, not sexy.”

Wearing a fringed baby blue dress and her hair in a top knot, the pair took to the stage to Rain on Me and drew massive cheers from the crowd.

Judges praised her and said she started off well, but lost some form during the dance.

Anton Du Beke gave her the top score of 8, while Craig Revel Horwood – to boos from the crowd and other judges – gave the pair a 5, saying the dance was not technical and her leg wasn’t straight, which was integral to the dance.

Earlier yesterday, the Daily Mail reported that she got a parking ticket while at the dance studio in Penrith – but she is enjoying training so much, it didn’t wipe the smile off her face.

Helen and Gorka are now in seventh on the leaderboard, with a combined score of 53 from last week’s American Smooth and last night’s cha cha cha. Topping it is Molly Rainford and Carlos Gu with 65.
