
A cyclist has been seriously injured in a collision on the A596.
The incident happened at about 4.15pm today, October 10, on the westbound carriageway between Wigton and Waverton.
The cyclist, a man in his 50s, was involved in a collision with an orange Ford Transit van. The driver of the van failed to stop and left the scene in the direction of Waverton.
The cyclist was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with potentially life changing injuries.
Officers are asking for witnesses to come forward. They are also seeking to hear from motorists who may have dashcam footage which may have captured the Ford Transit van travelling in the area.
