Cumbia is one of three top destinations for foodies outside London, a prestigious new guide has revealed.
The AA Restaurant Guide, published this week, said the county as a whole has 57 high quality restaurants – behind Devon with 59 and North Yorkshire with 68.
Cumbrian restaurants in the guide include Forest Side in Grasmere, Rogan & Co Restaurant in Cartmel, Rothay Manor Hotel in Ambleside, Allium at Askham Hall and Inn on the Lake at Ullswater while Table 22 @ The Regent, also in Ambleside and Lounge on the Green, near Carlisle, are among the local restaurants making their debut.
The guide, now in its 29th year, features over 1,400 restaurants across the UK which have been awarded rosettes for culinary excellence by the AA’s professional inspectors.
