Workington Town’s new coach Anthony Murray is building up a scouting network to identify talented young recruits for the club.
Former Town star Dean Marwood is one of the first to be appointed, covering Barrow and the south of the county.
Town will be spreading the net, too, because Carl Porter a former Warrington Wolves Academy coach is looking after Lancashire.
Marwood, now 52, played for Town between 1991 and 1996 making 143 appearances.
He was one of the best goal-kickers of his era and in his Town career landed 470, as well as scoring 31 tries and eight drop goals.
Town have already re-signed Dean’s son Blain while at the week-end they brought in two players from the Barrow area, Jack Stevenson and Max Anderson-Moore.
Porter is a level 4 qualified coach whose employers Blackfinch have committed to funding and supporting the Workington Town RLFC Community Trust.
