Eight Cumbrians named in England Community Lions squad

Cumbria has eight players in the England Community Lions Under 23s squad to play Wales Dragonhearts next month.

The match is being played at Pilkington Recs on November 12 and will be the first game in over 12 months for the Under 23s.

Their last game produced a big win in Ireland last September and head coach Paul Couch has selected some in-form talent after an entertaining trial game at Orrell St James last week.

Five Cumbrian clubs have players in the squad with Wath Brow, Egremont and Kells supplying two each while there’s one each from Ellenborough and Hensingham.

The Cumbrians are Jake Pearce and Jay Weatherill (Wath Brow Hornets), Aaron Burns and Mason Lewthwaite  (Kells), Brad Long and Aaron Turnbull (Egremont); Owen Hoyles (Ellenborough) and Jack Kellett (Hensingham).                           

Ten players come in from National Conference League Premier Division sides including one from Champions Hunslet Club Parkside, and three from finalists West Hull.

Four are included from Division One, two from Division Three, three from the North West Men’s League, including two from Orrell St James winning squad.

The other members of the squad are: Luke Moss (West Hull), Lucas Moon (Lock Lane),Tom Burke (West Hull), Kieron Taylor (Orrell St James),  Elliott Jones (West Hull),  Jack McShane (Hunslet Club Parkside), Owen Brock (Lock Lane), Charlie McCurrie (Latchford Albion?Leicester University), James Perks (Waterhead Warriors), Josh Oliver (Skirlaugh), Jake Roberts (Featherstone Lions) and Kye Siani (Orrell St James).
