Carlisle United were beaten 7-2 at Blackpool this afternoon as they returned to Youth League action.
It was a particularly disappointing score-line as the Blues had taken the lead and regained it after the home side had levelled.
Kai Nugent had grabbed the opening goal and after Blackpool’s equaliser Robbie Swinburn restored the lead.
But it ended badly as Blackpool had streaked into a 5-2 lead by half-time and they were able to add two more without reply in the second half.
The Youth team manager Mark Birch said: “We started exactly as we wanted to but we had a young side out, and Blackpool used their physical advantage well.
“They scored four from corners, as they utilised their height, and we lost our way a little bit.
“It’s a learning curve for the young group we had out.”
