A Carlisle burglar – who stole six packs of Pringles and power tools – has been jailed for 10 months.

Mark Young, 25, of no fixed address, was charged with burglary and possession of heroin yesterday, November 13, and pleaded guilty at a hearing at Carlisle Magistrates Court today.

On Thursday November 3 at 9.30pm Young broke into a business on Denton Street, Carlisle. He stole two power tools and six packs of Pringles. The value of all the items totalling £800.

Young was caught on CCTV during the burglary and was identified by officers. He was arrested and police seized two wraps of heroin.

He was sentenced to 10 months in prison.

Detective Constable James Bowness said: “We will act against those that target local businesses. This is not a victimless crime.

“Businesses provide employment and contribute to our local economies and incidents such as this can have an impact on owners and employees. We will not tolerate any burglaries of any kind of properties.

“Those who engage in these crimes can expect to face a police investigation and prosecution.”
