New chargepoints at Peppercorn Lane

New electric vehicle charging points have been installed in a Kendal car park and a Lake District village.

Charge My Street, working with South Lakeland District Council, has installed two chargers in Kendal’s Peppercorn Lane car park.

They will be officially launched on Tuesday December 6 at 2pm by director of Charge My Street, Daniel Heery, and Councillor Dyan Jones, South Lakeland District Council’s portfolio holder for climate action and biodiversity.

Two further chargepoints are waiting to be commissioned in Kendal at South Lakeland House multi-storey car park and Stricklandgate House, Library Road.

Charge My Street said the sites were part of a larger batch, including:

  • Red Bank Road in Grasmere (2 x 22kWh) (Coming soon)
  • Kents Bank Road in Grange-Over-Sands (2 x 22kWh)
  • Daltongate Car Park, Ulverston (2 x 22kWh)
  • Buxton Place Car Park, Ulverston (2 x 22kWh)
  • King Street in Ambleside (2 x 22kWh)
  • Broad Street (2 x 22kWh) and Rayrigg Road (2 x 22kWh) in Windermere (Coming soon)
Dent’s new electric vehicle chargepoints

Meanwhile, Dent and Cowgill Parish Council has teamed up with Manchester-based sustainability expert, Pilot Group, to install six EV chargepoints in the village.

The chargepoints are in a public car park in Laning, in the village of Dent, Cumbria.

Dent with Cowgill Parish Council covers the village of Dent with the hamlets of Cowgill and Gawthrop in South Lakeland.

Scott Thornley, clerk and RFO at Dent with Cowgill Parish Council, said: “We have been hugely impressed by the support we’ve received from the Pilot Group team. From conducting a site survey and consulting us on the most suitable solution, the process has been seamless.

“The convenience of contactless payment solutions and well-lit charge points mean we are offering a unique service for our community, and one that is crucial as more and more people turn to driving electric vehicles. We’re excited to have brought something new to Laning and will hopefully continue our relationship with Pilot Group into the future.”

Leon Wong, EV business development manager at Pilot Group, said: “At Pilot Group, we’re working hard to promote and encourage the implementation of electrical charging infrastructure across the country to enable the adaptation to a cleaner, electric vehicle future.

“It’s brilliant to have been able to support Dent with Cowgill Parish Council to realise their goal of providing EV charging solutions within their community and offering a new option for local residents moving forward. We look forward to seeing our relationship progress over the length of the contract.”
