
The Cumberland Social Circle held an excellent presentation night at Flimby Social Club on Saturday.
Dave Higgins, secretary of the NE Region and a past president of the RPRA – an organisation which he has served for 50 years – made the presentations.
The highly successful Workington Victoria loft of Richard Martindale and George ‘Pal’ Lawman topped the points tally in the CSC.
They picked up three firsts, won six trophies and collected 12 points.
Jimmy Nelson and Fletcher Crellin of Flimby HS earned 10 points with two firsts, five trophies and winners of the Billy Southward special.
The Aspatria loft of Andrew Berwick and co, who fly in the Dearham and Flimby clubs, had seven points, won the Combined average and took the Makin special.
The other race winners were Andrew Kenmare and son Tom (Cleator Moor Central); Blacklock and sons (Workington Victoria); McLuckie Bros (Workington Social Limit); Alan Graham and co (Cleator Moor) and Mr and Mrs Carter and sons (Harrington Central).
A total of 14 lofts shared in the prizes with Jimmy Varty, son and grandson (4 trophies); Rushforth and Hunter (4 trophies); I. and D. Wood (1 trophy); Williams and Hadfield (1 trophy) and John Devlin (1 trophy).
In addition Blacklock and sons were 1st OB Jubilee race and RPRA medallion while Mr and Mrs D Wood and son were first in the YB Jubilee and RPRA medal race with medals sponsored by Steve Williams.
