Former Workington Comets rider Charles Wright is staying at Redcar after signing a new deal.

Wright, 34, first rode for the Comets in 2007 to 2009 and then again in 2011.

He was at Redcar between those last two stints with the Comets and again in 2017 before re-joining in 2019 where he has remained since.

The Bears have also announced they have signed Poole’s double-winning Championship captain Danny King who will head to the Ecco Arena in the 2023 season.
King’s release by the Pirates was announced last week and he now makes the move to the Bears to take a heat-leader berth with the returning Erik Riss and Wright.

The Bears’ other returning rider from 2022 is Jason Edwards, who will start at reserve alongside new signing Jake Mulford who will make his Championship debut – with both Edwards and Wright signed on two-year deals.

And there are two new faces in the middle-order for the North-East side with Danyon Hume joining the club after an impressive season with Glasgow, and James Shanes coming in from Birmingham.
