Workington Comets will find out their opposition in the National Development League on January 17 when final declarations are announced.

Mildenhall and Armadale will announce then whether they will be ready to run in the 2023 season after being given time to confirm arrangements.

The Comets were one of six clubs accepted into the NDL at the AGM – Belle Vue Colts, Berwick Bullets, Kent Royals, Leicester Lion Cubs and Oxford Chargers.

Comets promoter Andrew Bain said: “Obviously it will be great if the two clubs join and provide more speedway. We are almost complete with our line-up and I’m obviously thrilled at the make-up of the team.

“We will be holding a press and practice session at Northside towards the end of March with the new season starting at the end of April.

“Obviously we have a bit of work still to do at the track to get it ready but these are exciting times for the Comets again.”

Workington are getting ready to announce the seventh and final member of the team on Christmas Eve.
