West Cumbrian James Trafford is being linked with a move to Glasgow Rangers.
Trafford, 20, signed a new five-year deal with champions Manchester City in July and has been producing top displays on loan with Bolton Wanderers.
He initially went out on loan to Accrington Stanley last season and played 11 senior games.
Trafford, from a farming family in Greysouthen, near Cockermouth, where he went to school, joined Bolton on loan last season.
It didn’t take him long to earn a place in the club record books as he kept four clean sheets in his first four games, the first time a new goalkeeper had done so in Bolton’s entire history. He has gone back on loan to Bolton this season.
So far he has won 17 England age group caps from Under-17s through to Under 21s.
A deal for Trafford at this stage of the season would more likely be a loan, although could include an option to buy.
His first team chances at the Etihad are likely to be limited for the foreseeable future, with Ederson, veteran Scott Carson, Zach Steffen and Stefan Ortega Moreno all ahead of him in the pecking order under Pep Guardiola.
