Whitehaven completed a Championship double over Goole when they beat the Vikings 46-16 at the Ortus Rec.
It was the fourth home win in a row for the west Cumbrians, the first time they’ve managed that since 2021.
It was a comprehensive victory with seven tries, six of them converted by Cieran Walker who also took the opportunity on three occasions to land three penalties.
It gave Walker another 18 points as he remains firmly among the Championships top marksmen.
Whitehaven only led 14-10 at half-time, courtesy of tries by Rio McQuiston and Jay Weatherill, both converted by Walker who added a penalty.
The Vikings had stayed in contention with tries by Shaw and Guzdek, one converted by Miller.
The second-half started in explosively with quick tries from Liam Williamson (41) and Ellison Holgate (44), followed by Goole’s Hodgson (46).
Things settled down and Whitehaven gradually pulled away and scored further tries by Weatherill (66), Ethan Bickerdike (72) and Ben Pearce (76).
It leaves Whitehaven in tenth position with six games to play – Hunslet (A, July 26), Rochdale (A, Aug 9), Dewsbury (H, Aug 16), Barrow (A, Aug 23), Workington (A, Aug 30).
