Cockermouth will meet Penrith in the County Under-17s final at Silloth on March 5.
But Cockermouth needed a little help to opponents Wigton to seal their place in the final.
Unfortunate late drop-outs meant that they had to travel to Lowmoor with only 14 players but in true Corinthian spirit Wigton loaned their opponents a 15th player.
In the end, Cockermouth played particularly well to win the contest 32-7 and earn the right to take on Penrith in six weeks’ time.
Stephen Reed the Cockermouth coach said: “Wigton were fantastic when we went through one short. They gave us a player and then in the second half we had a player injured and they loaned us another. Great gesture which we appreciated.”
Cockermouth had established a 22-0 lead by half-time, although it took them 16 minutes to open their account.
Winger Joe Blacklock went in for an unconverted try but six minutes later centre Will Hetherington scored the try of the game. He broke through from inside his own half and touched down for Alex Woodhall to convert.
On 27 minutes fellow centre Woodhall got in on the scoring with the third try and before the break prominent number eight Leuan Jennings cross for the fourth touchdown.
Wigton responded well at the start of the second-half and when fly half Eddie Miller kicked through centre Jayden French showed good pace to get on the end of it for the try which he converted.
Gradually Cockermouth took command again and on 55 minutes Ethan Charlton went over with Lewis Bancroft rounding off the scoring with the sixth try 10 minutes later.
Vince Brand covered the game and these are some of his action shots with Wigton in their traditional green shirts.
