Edinburgh, who will open the new season in May for the revived Workington Comets, have announced two more signings.

The Armadale club have signed Alex Spooner and Mickie Simpson for their new-look NDL team this season.

Spooner joins the Monarchs Academy after increasing his average to just under seven with Mildenhall last year, whilst Simpson has spent the last two campaigns with Leicester and helped the Lion Cubs to a league and KO Cup double in 2022.

Team boss Scott Wilson said: “The improvement Alex has made in the last couple of years is clear for all to see simply by looking at the movement in his average.

“I’m really looking forward to working with Alex and watching his continued development at close quarters.

“Mickie brings with him something which is invaluable – he’s sampled the feeling of success.

“He was a key part of Leicester’s title-winning side in 2022 and I was surprised he was not retained by the Lion Cubs. However, that opened the door for us and we weren’t going to let that opportunity pass us by.”

Saturday, May 13 is the date pencilled in by Comets fans for the return of the Workington side with Edinburgh the first visitors to Northside.
