Kendal Town made progress in a second Cup competition when they beat New Mills 3-0.
The Derbyshire side hosted the tie after two postponements at Parkside Road but Kendal were dominant early on and established a 2-0 lead by half-time.
The deadlock was broken on 28 minutes when Shaun Silver scored with a superb effort from 30 yards which gave the home keeper no chance.
Although New Mills hit the bar soon afterwards it was a rare awkward moment foe the Kendal defence ands four minutes before the break they doubled their lead.
Steve Yawson found himself unmarked in the box and could have taken on a shot but unselfishly gave it to Joseph Dickson who scored with ease.
New Mills came more into the game after the turnround and Kendal keeper Danny Roccia had to make on particularly excellent save to maintain the Mintcakes two goal lead.
Kendal were put under a fair bit of pressure but weathered the storm and started to regain their early control over the final 15 minutes.
The third goal to end New Mills’ fading hopes came three minutes from the end.
Substitute Fraser Hobb did really well to block the keeper’s clearance to a back pass and when the ball fell to Dickson he slotted home his second of the night.
Kendal only had two substitutes because they could only use players who were signed back in November when the original tie should have been played.
They will now host Avro in the quarter final while they have a Westmorland County Cup semi-final to look forward to when they will entertain Milnthorpe Corinthians, the former club of manager Jimmy Marshall.
