Penrith reached the semi-final of the Fred Conway County Cup with a 3-0 win at Keswick.
Alfie Brunskill gave them the lead inside a minute but it stayed 1-0 until half-time.
Second-half goals from Jonny Murray and Reon Morrison ensured that Penrith saw off a gritty Keswick challenge.
Penrith manager Darren Edmondson said: “We didn’t play much flowing football but these sort of games are about getting the result.
“Scoring early was good for us but credit to Keswick they stuck at it and made us work for the win. They had a decent crowd, will have made some money and competed well even though they had some players missing.
“We were the same mind you but we got minutes into players who needed them so all round it was a good exercise.
“The main focus is for Wednesday night, though, when we play bottom side Thornaby in the Northern League.
“It’s a big six weeks for us through February and March. We need to be picking up points and moving away to safety.”
Keswick can take great credit for their performance after conceding so early and they had opportunities until conceding twice later in the game.
