Kendal Town have added to their squad ahead of Tuesday’s night’s home NWCounties League game against Longridge.
Bailey Kenny, a midfielder, has joined on a dual registration from neighbours Kendal United and will be included in tomorrow night’s squad.
Manager Jimmy Marshall had been looking to bring in one or two new faces ahead of the game because of a crop of injuries.
He said: “Bailey is a player I’ve admired for a long time and I’m delighted to get the signing done. He’s a tenacious player with good technical ability.
“I’m not saying we are any different to other clubs in the league through playing 11 games in a month but it has been hard on the lads.
“On Saturday we had players having physio at half-time to keep going. Ryan Winder had been ill in bed for a week without eating and he said he was prepared to have a go but would be running on empty.
“It’s all part and parcel of playing at this level when we haven’t the budget of some clubs.”
Kendal had been pegged back on Saturday after a well struck opener from Joseph Dickson on seven minutes. Lower Breck took home a point after an 80th minute equaliser from Max O’Connell.
Marshall said: “I’m disappointed at dropping two home points, especially in the way we lost our lean sheet. But overall I think a draw was probably a fair result as Lower Breck had a real go in the second half.
“It’s going to be a good game on Tuesday because Longridge have a good young side, are probably the nearest club to our own and they have a former Kendal manager in charge.”
Ex-Mintcakes boss Lee Ashcroft had six seasons at Parkside Road and has been in charge at Longridge since 2014, winning two promotions in his time. They are currently 18th in the table, six points behind Kendal with a game in hand.
