A West Cumbrian will spearhead Edinburgh’s challenge when the Workington Comets open their season at Northside in May.

Edinburgh have named Workington-based Kyle Bickley as No.1 for their rebranded National Development League side.

Bickley had already joined the club to race for the Monarchs in the Cab Direct Championship, but will now be on double duty at Armadale as he also lines up for their Academy team, switching from rivals Berwick.

Team manager Scott Wilson said: “Kyle’s average of 9.58 undoubtedly marks him out as one of the top riders in the league and I’m delighted that he will be leading us from the front as No.1.

“The trick for Kyle and the club this season is to maintain that high NDL average and translate it into Championship race points too.

“I’ve spoken with Kyle and he is very fired up to prove the calibre of rider he really is and to put down roots with Edinburgh Monarchs.”

Bickley is a former Workington rider in the Championship and knows the Northside track, so will be a key opponent when the Comets relaunch on May 13.
