Barrow Raiders have boosted their squad by securing loan deals with two players from Super League club Salford Red Devils.
Amir Bourouh and James Greenwood will go straight into contention for Sunday’s trip to York City Knights as Barrow look to open their account in their fourth Championship game.
Bourouh operates primarily at hooker and will help strengthen that department of the pitch while Josh Wood recovers from an ankle injury icked-up in the second game against Sheffield.
Greenwood, meanwhile, can play at both prop forward and second-row, providing added versatility to the Raiders pack ahead of this weekend’s visit to the LNER Community Stadium.
A Raiders club statement said: “We would like to recognise the hard work of Barrow Raiders director of rugby Andy Gaffney, who has worked tirelessly to bring in quality players such as these to boost our squad.”
Huddersfield-born Bourouh, 22, started his career with Wigan Warriors and played nine Super League games there, as well as 11 in the Championship on loan at Halifax before joining Salford last season.
As well as seven Super League outings for the Red Devils he fitted in one Championship game on loan at London Broncos.
Oldham-born Greenwood, 31, is far more experienced having started his career over ten years ago with South Wales Scorpions.
He then joined Wigan for three years, getting three Super League starts but also gaining experience on loan back at the Scorpions, London Broncos, Salford and Hull KR whilst having a three-match dual registration spell with Workington Town.
The high-point of his career so far was a permanent move to Hull KR in 2016 and over the next four seasons clocked-up 80 games for the Robins, scoring 22 tries.
He joined Salford in 2019 and has scored four tries in 14 appearances for the Red Devils.
