Penrith earned three precious points in their battle to escape the drop zone in Northern League Division One.
Their 4-1 home win over Pickering Town was even more valuable as their opponents are in a similar position.
It was only 1-1 at half-time, even though Penrith had dominated virtually from the start but the Bonny Blues pulled away after the break to give the score-line a truer reflection of proceedings.
Manager Darren Edmondson said: “It was a good performance and shows what the team is capable of. We asked them to go out and show us what good, young footballers they are and they did that in the second-half.
“We scored some good goals and gave them no opportunities, which is encouraging for the battles we have ahead.
“We have matches in hand but need to pick-up points from them and if the players continue to believe in their ability we will be fine and be able to pull away from the danger area.”
Penrith had failed in their bid to overturn the red card goalkeeper Aaran Taylor received last week against Crook Town.
Harvey Reay came in to deputise for the suspended Taylor and will be in goal again on Tuesday when Penrith entertain West Allotment Celtic.
Luke Hunter had given Penrith the lead after 36 minutes but in the fifth minute of time added on McKenzie Diciccio grabbed the Pickering equaliser from the penalty spot.
It was a penalty that allowed Penrith to regain the lead on 54 minutes when Hunter slotted home.
DJ Taylor (68) and substitute Alfie Brunskill (89) completed the Penrith victory.
