
A man has died on Kidsty Howes fell near Haweswater.
Penrith Mountain Rescue Team were called out on Wednesday March 1 at 9.57am after they were contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust following a report of a collapsed male.
As the team travelled to the scene, they were told the Great North Air Ambulance Service had been able to get to the man, but that he had died.
Kirkby Stephen Mountain Rescue Team were called to assist on the long stretcher carry back to the road, which allowed the air ambulance to return to service.
A Penrith Mountain Rescue Team spokesman said: “Our thoughts are with the friends and family of the casualty.”
A total of 10 Penrith team members and six Kirkby Stephen team members were involved for four hours and 25 minutes.
