Workington Reds will be without defender Sam Smith for four games following his red card against Macclesfield last season.
The ultra-consistent Smith will be a miss and Reds boss Danny Grainger is trying to bring in a specialist centre-back ahead of tomorrow’s home game with Hanley Town.
“I am talking to a club about bringing a player in but whether it will be in time for tomorrow I’m not 100% sure,” said Grainger.
Otherwise Grainger just has Brad Hubbold (calf) and the long-time absentee Ben Hughes (back) out of contention tomorrow.
“Both are making good progress, however, and I hope that they will both get minutes on Tuesday when we play Carlisle United in the County Cup,” said the manager.
Hanley visit Reds sitting next to bottom of the NPL West table but Grainger believes they are better than that.
“I think they will be touch opponents. They seem to draw quite a few matches and they are a well-organised side. We will have to be at our best from the word go to get the three points we are looking for.
“I thought we were terrific last week in defeat and lost to one mistake, but I have no problem with that and want us to continue playing the same style of football, “ said Grainger.
Reds officials are hoping that the fans who watched the Macclesfield game will be back at Borough Park to back the team and help them secure the points they need over the last few weeks of the season.
Four of Reds last nine matches are at Borough Park with the final one to wrap-up the regular season against Colne on April 22.
