Ellenborough Rangers in line for Third Division title

Keenan Winter, of Elbra (Ben Challis)

Ellenborough Rangers will be in line for the National Conference Third Division title in their first season.

Kells will be involved in a battle to avoid relegation from the Premier Division while Barrow Island face a relegation battle in Division Two.

These aren’t computer-generated predictions but the opinion of all the National Conference clubs.

In strictest confidence they were asked to predict the finishing order of the teams in their own divisions.

Wath Brow Hornets are set for joint fifth in the Premier Division with Kells finishing joint bottom with Wigan St Patrick’s.

Hunslet Amateurs, the recently amalgamated club, are touted as the likely champions.

In Division One there’s no predicted early return to the top flight for Egremont Rangers – sixth is the general opinion behind champions West Bowling.

Barrow Island, Cumbria’s representatives in Division Two will finish 10th of 12 with Waterhead Warriors the League winners.

There’s a three-way tie predicted in Division Three between Ellenborough, fellow Cumbrians Millom and Oldham St Anne’s.

In the only game on Saturday Elbra put 60 points on local rivals Seaton Rangers who are predicted to finish only seventh of 10 after last year’s promising effort.

Hensingham are predicted to finish joint fourth alongside Beverley and Leigh East.

All a bit of fun of course but it will be interesting to see how the predictions pan out come the end of the season.
