Workington Finches will get the chance to play at Twickenham after all!
There were fears that the Zebras Ladies team would miss out when it was announced last week that the Junior Plate final would be played at Worcester on Sunday, April 30.
But the Finches and their final opponents Avonmouth Ladies did some lobbying, gained a groundswell of support and the decision has been reversed after a committee meeting at the RFU.
Kevin O’Neill, the Finches team manager, said: “We are still waiting for the full details but it appears the committee meeting agreed that the final should be played at Twickenham.
“All we know is that it will be on the Bank Holiday Monday, May 1 but will be played at Twickenham.
“Avonmouth and ourselves have been doing a bit of work after discussing the matter and it appears to have paid off.
“We don’t know which other games are being staged on the Monday but as far as we are concerned it is the right decision tom give the Ladies the opportunity to play at Twickenham.”
