Cumbria police are investigating two attempts to gain entry to a metal side door to the rear of the cash machine at Alston Spar.
The first attempt was at 11pm on Friday, March 24, and the second at 11.50pm on Monday, March 27.
Eden Police said offenders cut through a wooden fence to the rear of the building and used black spray paint to obscure security lights.
Anyone who witnessed suspicious behaviour or has any information can contact police on 101.
