A woman who kicked her now former partner in the stomach after dragging her to the ground has been ordered to wear an alcohol ban tag as part of a court sentence.
Carlisle Magistrates’ Court heard the victim of Shanie Marie Philipson’s violence had not made a formal statement about an incident which occurred in the city at 3.55am on December 8.
However, police officers did witness the criminal conduct while they were involved in a completely separate matter.
They saw Philipson, 24, drag the woman to the ground and punching her one to the mid-section of her body. She got to her feet, was crying, extremely upset and shocked, said prosecutor Graeme Tindall.
Philipson was sentenced having pleaded guilty to assault by beating during a previous court hearing.
Her solicitor, Ant Wilson, said there had been no further incidents involving the two women, who had been partners before a permanent split.
The court heard Philipson, of Boundary Road, Carlisle, had little if any recollection of the assault because she had consumed so much alcohol.
District Judge John Temperley imposed a 12-month community order for what he said was a serious offence.
Philipson must complete rehabilitation work with the probation service and 100 hours’ unpaid work. She was also made subject to a 90-day alcohol abstinence monitoring requirement, which means she must wear a tag which monitors any intake through sweat.
