Coach Colin Teasdale has announced that he will be leaving Workington Reds Ladies at the end of the season due to work commitments.

He said: “I’ve really enjoyed my time with the club and only wish it could have been for longer.

“Working every other weekend means that I cannot commit the time needed to give the club the support it requires so my decision to step down, albeit a very difficult one to make, has been done with the best interest of the club at heart.

“My advice to anyone interested in taking up the role would be to go for it. Being involved in Ladies and girls’ football for the past five years has been immensely rewarding and I have brilliant memories that will last a lifetime and made friendships that will last forever.”

Manager Paul Mackenzie added: “We knew Colin’s working arrangements were going to impact the time he could offer from the outset, but we were prepared to give it a go and see how things panned out.

“Colin is the type of person that wants to give everything he does his full commitment and it’s clear him not being able to do this gives causes him great frustration and disappointment.

“On behalf of everyone at the club I’d like to thank Colin and his family for the commitment they have given to us and wish them the very best for the future and they know that they will always be warmly welcomed by us all in the future.”

This announcement means that Reds Ladies are looking for an ambitious coach or coaches to join the set-up for the 2023/24 season starting in August.

They train twice weekly at the Lakes College Astro and play on Sundays in the North West Women’s Regional Division One North league – Tier 6 of the Women’s Football pyramid.

They are looking for applicants that hold or be willing to achieve:

  • Level 1 In Coaching Football or new Introduction to Coaching Football
  • Full DBS check
  • Safeguarding Children Course
  • Introducing First Aid in Football (IFAIF)

Among other things, the role of coach will consist of:

  • Planning training sessions to align with agreed objectives
  • Identifying/delivering player development
  • Match day support home and away

Anyone interested in applying or would like to know more about the role, should email the club at [email protected]
