Cumbria’s National Counties T20 season is finally likely to get underway this Sunday with two home matches against Northumberland at Barrow’s Ernest Pass Memorial Ground.

Captain Michael Slack is the one addition to the 11 players who had been selected to play against Staffordshire earlier in the month when the games were abandoned due to the weather.

Slack is ready to play after not being selected for the Staffordshire trip because of a troublesome groin injury.

Freddie Fallows and Ed Moulton have once again scheduled to make their county debuts.

The 12 man squad is: Michael Slack (Carlisle) capt, Sam Dutton (Furness), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Ed Moulton (Chorley), Gary Pratt (Richmondshire), Finlay Richardson+ (Kendal), Matthew Sempilll (Cockermouth), Sam Sharp (Cockermouth), Matthew Siddall (Cockermouth), Ben Walkden (Newton le Willows), Nathan Waterston (Furness) and Nico Watt (Carlisle).

As the county currently play Northumberland in all three of the NCCA competitions their side will have lots of familiar faces in but also three new faces.

Twenty-year-old all-rounder Luke Doneathy is contracted with Durham and he has previously represented England at under-19 level, He made his Northumberland debut last weekend.

Both 16 year old Haydon Mustard (captain of Durham Academy) and son of former England ‘keeper Phil Mustard and highly rated 18 year old left arm spinner Jude Roberts, who plays his cricket in the Bradford League, are scheduled to make their County debuts.

Squad: Stuart Poynter (Tynemouth) (capt and wk), Alasdair Appleby (Burnopfield), John Oswell (Burnopfield), Matthew Oswell (Burnopfield), Bobby Green (Newcastle), Mohsin Mukhtar (Benwell Hill), Callum Fletcher (South North), George Darwood (Newcastle), Amaan Ul Haq (Chester le Street), Haydon Mustard (Durham Academy), Jude Roberts (Undercliffe) and Luke Doneathy (Durham)

The previous T20 matches between the two counties have so far gone slightly in favour of Cumbria, who have won 4 and lost 2.

Last weekend Northumberland won once (chasing down 158 in 18 overs) and lost once against Staffordshire and therefore are joint leaders of the Group with Staffordshire and Cheshire on 4 points.

The two matches are scheduled to start at 11am and 2.30pm.
