Jill Glencross, 2022 winner of Cumbria Women of the Year.

Nominations are now open for the prestigious Cumbria Women of the Year awards.

Now over 30 years old, the awards celebrate the women of Cumbria who are going above and beyond to make differences in many ways across the county.

Whether through fundraising for worthy causes, campaigning to raise the profile of a cause or injustice, excelling in sport or creating a sense of community to improve the quality of life for others to make Cumbria a better place to live – if a woman is making a difference in your community, then she is worthy of a nomination.

The difficult task of selecting a winner is undertaken by the Cumbria Women of the Year committee, which is made up of 12 voluntary community representatives from all over the county. Four committee members are former winners themselves.

The Cumbria Women of the Year annual event is held to celebrate those unsung heroines who work devotedly for the good of others.

The awards lunch, held in October at the Belsfield Hotel in Bowness on Windermere, is a thank you for their contribution to Cumbrian life and honours their achievements.

It’s easy to nominate your woman of the year – go to the website at www.cumbriawomenoftheyear.co.uk
