Workington Reds were too slick and clinical for Penrith as they overwhelmed their opponents 9-1 in the final of the Fred Conway County Cup at Brunton Park.
Two goals in the first nine minutes were more than just early warnings for the Northern League side, but were severe set-backs for a side who had started clear underdogs.
Reds made nine changes from the side which beat Runcorn Linnets to win promotion from the NPL West Division but their intent was clear from the start, adapting perfectly to the widfe open spaces of the Carlisle pitch.
Penrith could hardly get near their West Cumbrian rivals in the first 20 minutes, by which time they had extended their lead to 3-0.
Obua Mugalula, who has virtually starred in every round of this competition, had given Reds the perfect start with the opening goal on three minutes with an audacious chip over Aaron Taylor into the far corner.
Six minutes later he added a second, stretching well to turn in a low cross after patient Reds build-up had opened up the Penrith defence.
Ben Hughes, frustrated by an injury spoilt season, made it 3-0 on 18 minutes with a fine finish beyond Taylor into the far corner.
But to their credit Penrith steadied and on 21 minutes scored a good goal. A clever turn and accurate pass from Alfie Brunskill put-in Luke Hunter and his shot found the net beyond the diving Danny Eccles.
The net goal was going to be vital and if Darren Edmondson could have got his side into the dressing room at 3-1 it might have been a different story.
But in a confidence-sapping conclusion to the half Reds scored twice more and at 5-1 the game was virtually over as a contest.
Magalula completed his hat-trick and Lewis Reilly came in late at the far post to force home a good cross from Brad Hubbold.
It quickly became damage limitation in the second-half when Reds scored twice more in the first nine minutes as Magalula scored his fourth after being unmarked in the box and then Hughes from close range collected his second.
Penrith kept plugging away with Brunskill and Hunter asking a few questions of the Reds defence but none that couldn’t be answered.
Seventeen-year-old Lewis Moore capped a good night’s work when he finished really well with a curled shot from 25 yards into the top corner and Hughes completed his hat-trick five minutes from the end.
Mugalula, who missed a late chance to take Reds into double figures, picked-up the official Man of the Match award in front of a crowd of 676.
