Tributes have been paid to a well-respected police dog who has died.
Merlin joined Cumbria police from the Isle of Man puppy programme in 2012.
He worked for Cumbria police for nine years and retired in June 2021. He was described by his past handler as the Rolls-Royce of dogs.
In a tweet, Cumbria police’s dog section said: “Merlin lived a happy retirement with one of our inspectors. During this time, he has enjoyed many trips in Wales and Cumbria. RIP RPD Merlin, you will be missed.”
