Workington continued their winning start to the Cumbria League’s Premier Division with a convincing victory at Wigton.
They have now won all three League games, as well as a Higson Cup-tie and their only defeat was off the last ball in a National Cup game at St Anne’s.
In this latest success at Lowmoor Road they swept Wigton aside, bowling them out for just 31 in 14.3 overs.
Adam Chambers (5-11) and skipper Matt Lowden (5-20) were responsible for the Wigton innings collapse which had five ducks and opener Kieran Little (13) the only batsman in double figures.
There had been no such problems for Workington as they reached 220-8 in their 50 overs based on a century stand between Jake Daniel (61) and Chambers (37). After they both were dismissed Kiwi Davis Mills (51) shepherded the lower order to a good total.
Five of the Wigton bowlers had a wicket each while three Workington batsmen were run out.
Furness, who look to have a strong, competitive side this year were also big winners at Whitehaven in a game that was more one-sided than had generally been predicted this time.
After racking-up 286-7 in their 50 overs Furness proceeded to blow away their hosts for only 58.
Veteran former county bowler Peter Lawson did most of the damage, taking 5-18 from eight overs with back-up from Samson Storey (2-11) and Josh Shaw (2-23). Adam McGarry (12) was the only Whitehaven batsman to reach double figures.
Earlier new professional Yash Dubey (84), Sam Dutton (58), Mark Daly (46) and Lewis Gribbin (32) had given Furness a great start.
For Whitehaven Billy Thompson (3-51) and Tom De Gelder (3-70) were the most successful bowlers.
Top scorers on the day were Carlisle who rattled-up 332-5 at Egremont with Marc Brown leading the way with a hard-hitting century (101). He was backed-up by the Davidson brothers – Ben (81) and Jonathan (45) – and professional Michael Slack (60).

It was always going to be a tough ask for Egremont and when they lost professional Vathsal Govind in the 12th over it was an impossible one. They eventually made 161 with the young spinners Josh Stirling and Johnny Westgarth bowling beautifully in tandem. Westgarth finished with 4-30.
Jack Thompson offered most resistance for Egremont with a gritty 31 as they were bowled out in 30.1 overs.
Cleator and Lindal Moor had a good contest at the J. D. Campbell Memorial Ground before the home side won by 36 runs.
Put in to bat Cleator lost half the side for 91 before being eventually bowled-out in 49 overs for 204 but Lindal did not help their cause by sending down 30 wides.
Doug Hughes was Cleator’s top scorer with 39 and most support came from Tom Sharpe (27), Darren Clark (25) and a late flourish from David Blackwell (26no) from 23 deliveries.
John Atkinson was the most successful Lindal bowler taking 4-23 from his ten overs.
Lindal were ahead of the game at 102-5 but couldn’t maintain their challenge and were bowled-out for 168 despite decent contributions from Aseem Wadhwa (31), Ryan Gilmour (24), Edward Waind (23) and Phil Wilson (21).

Tom Sharpe (3-33) and veteran Ian Clark (3-43) were the leading bowlers for Cleator.
The south Cumbrian derby between Millom and Haverigg was a hard-fought contest as expected before the home side won by 25 runs.
Millom had made 190 in their first knock with Tom Wilkinson top-scoring on 45 as they were bowled-out off the penultimate delivery. Best support came from Braith Connor (21).
Jordan Postlethwaite was the most successful Haverigg bowler with 3-37.

Drew Postlethwaite (32), pro Promod Maduwantha (28), Jordan Postlethwaite (23) and Zac Mawdsley (22) did best with the bat for Haverigg who fell short on 165.
Millom’s new Indian pro arrives next week so they had Australian Bryce Street, who is playing in the Lancashire League for Littleborough, in as a substitute and he bowled well taking 3-37 from his ten overs. Paul O’Callaghan took 3-39.
Despite a poor forecast 24 hours earlier across the county, the only game that was affected was the clash at Sandair between Cockermouth and Keswick.
With Keswick rocking on 17-3 from 10,3 overs the heavens opened and the two sides were unable to get back on, having to take four points apiece from the abandoned game.
Cockermouth had made 173, bowled-out in 48.5 overs, with the major contributions from Gareth White (57) and Ryan Carruthers (45no). Ben Sharp took 5-26.
