Ace Pijper and Lee Complin helped Glasgow Tigers see off Scunthorpe Scorpions last night in a 55-35 win at Ashfield.
It helped the Tigers through to the final of the BSN Series with a convincing 101-79 aggregate success.
Tonight Pijper and Ciomplin will be teaming up for the Workington Comets in the National Development League as they look for a second successive win, this time at Berwick.
Pijper is a signed Workington rider while veteran Complin has been brought in as a number one guest for Australian Connor Bailey who is riding for Redcar tonight.
At Ashfield the pair were at reserve and in the course of the meeting Pijper helped himself to five and three bonus points with Complin collecting four.
They didn’t win a heat between them but teenager Pijper collected two seconds and a third in his four starts while Complin, also from four, scored a second and two thirds.
Bailey, who marked his debut last Saturday at Northside with a top-scoring 13 will be back to spearhead the Comets on Sunday afternoon when they host the Berwick Bullets in the return.
Berwick welcome back Mason Watson and Josh Embleton for tonight’s NDL home clash with Workington after missing last Sunday’s defeat at Kent.
The home side continue to operate rider replacement for Archie Freeman and Berwick skipper Greg Blair said: “Some of the Workington lads have done more laps around Berwick than half of our team, so we need to be on our toes from the get-go.
“Myself and Mason are the only survivors from the original Bullets, but over those two and a bit seasons many teams have come here fancying their chances and gone home with nothing to show.
“And of course there is the reverse fixture the following afternoon with the aggregate point also up for grabs.”
Comets team manager James Denham said: “The lads know what they have to do. After last Saturday, I’m confident the boys can go up there and get a result.
“We have Ace and Crangy who rode for the Bullets last season, so I’m hoping they are still dialled in and can help the other boys.”
