Former Kendal Town, Penrith and Gretna manager Chris Humphrey is back in football as manager of West Lancashire League side Milnthorpe Corinthians.
Humphrey, 35, who was capped 12 times for Jamaica, had been playing North West Counties League football for Garstang following his last managerial appointment.
In his League career he topped 130 appearances in Scotland for Motherwell and then played over 100 times for Preston, also playing 74 times for Shrewsbury.
He landed the Milnthorpe Corinthians job after the departure of Shaun Gardner who had taken over at the start of the season, succeeding Jimmy Marshall when he left to take the Kendal job.
Gardner had previously worked under Humphrey as a player at Kendal and then as assistant coach at Penrith.
Gardner took over a Corinthians side which had won promotion to the Premier Division but lost a clutch of players, notably to Kendal as they followed Marshall to Parkside Road. It made for a tricky first season but he eventually kept them above the drop zone by just two points.
It was after confirming Corinthians safety at the end of the season that Gardner stood down.
Humphrey will take charge of pre-season training at Milnthorpe and a club spokesman said: “Following the resignation of Shaun Gardner last weekend the club are delighted to announce the appointment of former Preston North End player Chris Humphrey as their new 1st team manager with immediate effect.
“The club would like to thank all applicants for the post and wish them well for the future.”
