Workington Reds have confirmed their first home friendly of pre-season and it means a return visit from Dumbarton.
The Sons played at Borough Park last summer and recorded an eye-catching 3-0 win over the Reds which suggested they would be a force in Scottish Division Two.
In fact they finished runners-up to Stirling Albion but were beaten by Annan Athletic in the play-offs and will have ambitions to go one better next time round.
They won 18 of their 36 games in the League but were ten points shy of champions Stirling at season’s end.
In the game at Borough Park last year they scored three goals in the first-half and that proved enough as Reds couldn’t reduce the arrears.
Workington have confirmed that their first friendly will be the annual charity game against Whitehaven on Thursday, July 6 when they contest the Shaun Hocking Memorial Trophy at the County Ground.
Reds start life in the NPL Premier Division on August 12 and the fixtures are expected to be released in early July. Pre-season friendlies will be announced over the coming weeks.
