Armed police have been called to Shap following reports of a man with an air rifle.
Police were called earlier today to the area of Croft Avenue.
A man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and remains in police custody.
Armed officers were deployed as a precaution.
Shap Pool was closed to the public and people were initially advised to stay in their homes, but there is no wider threat to the public, police said
