Edenside will stage the Cumbria League Premier Division’s match of the day on Saturday when champions Carlisle host Furness.
Carlisle are the only unbeaten side in the top flight but Furness are only seven points behind in third place.
Furness, with Mark Daly back after a season out; Yash Dubey settling in well as the new pro and young batsman Faizan Ghumman showing a lot of promise, look particularly menacing this season.
Yet they were well beaten at home by Cockermouth in what has been the one blemish on their record so far this season.
Carlisle have been getting the job done so far without blowing teams away with bat and ball, and are clearly intent on retaining their crown.
Their first game of the season at Cockermouth was rained-off and since then they have chalked up six successive victories – although they did lose to Cockermouth in the Higson Cup.
Sitting in between Carlisle and Furness are Workington, whose only defeat was a fairly heavy one at Furness.
They travel to Lindal Moor conscious that their hosts are newly promoted but making a decent fist of their return to the Premier Division.
Workington are also back in action on Sunday when they stage the last quarter final in the Higson Cup as they attempt to join Cockermouth, Furness and Keswick in the last four. They entertain Cleator.
Keswick are having a rough time of it in the League and ahead of their home game with Whitehaven sit just five points above bottom side Wigton.
With Whitehaven and Haverigg also on 31 points with Keswick, and Cleator only a point better off the result of this clash at Fitz Park is likely to have a big impact on the League table.
Whitehaven have been rather inconsistent after a fine win over Cockermouth while Keswick’s problems haven’t been helped by the absence of several top line bowlers.
Cleator are desperately in need of points after their slide down the table and host a Millom side who were surprised by Egremont last week in a two wicket home defeat.
Egremont are in dreamland at the moment, enjoying their highest League position for years – sixth in the table – and will be fancying their chances of making further inroads when they host bottom side Wigton.
But Wigton, after a poor start to the season got themselves moving last week with a first win, an exciting three wicket victory over Keswick with seven balls to spare.
The sixth game is at Haverigg where visitors Cockermouth are fourth in the table, but some 19 points behind leaders Carlisle.
