Crash closes A66 for several hours

A biker has been airlifted to hospital following a serious collision on the A66 near Keswick.

A green Kawasaki motorcycle and a white Vauxhall Insignia were involved in the incident, which happened at about 2.25pm on Saturday at Threlkeld.

The rider of the motorcycle, a man in his 60s, was airlifted to Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries. The occupants of the Insignia did not suffer any injuries.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has any information on the incident is asked to contact police.

Officers would also like to hear from anyone with dash cam footage which may assist the investigation.

Anyone with information relating to this incident is asked to call 101 and speak to PC 2709 Austin or Sgt 1929 Bainbridge.
