The first International hound trail meeting was in 1965 when the sport was enjoying a golden period.
It has been held every year since apart from twice when foot and mouth, and then COVID caused cancellations.
Numbers may have fallen since that first headline-making event, but the occasion still guarantees excitement throughout the hound trailing fraternity.
The trails are taking place at Sewingshields, over the county border in Northumberland with the action due to start at 1pm.
John Walsh spoke to Andy Horn the chairman of the international committee about the big date in the annual programme.
