Workington start pre-season training on Saturday – and manager Danny Grainger has landed a second new defender to his squad.
Finlay Wallbank, 18, who has just been released by Preston North End has agreed a deal with the Reds, choosing the West Cumbrians ahead of another NPL Premier Division side.
A centre-half, Wallbank can also play on the eight and left of a back four or five and has been with his hometown club for seven years.
He came through the age group ranks and last season was a regular in North End’s Under-19s side, playing a prominent role in their run to the quarter finals of the FA Youth Cup.
Finlay’s elder brother Ellis played for Colne at Borough Park towards the end of last season.
Manager Grainger said: “I’m delighted to confirm our second signing of the summer and look forward to working with Finlay. He has a hunger to succeed and I am sure he quickly quickly adapt to his new surroundings.”
Joining him at Saturday’s first training session will be Grainger’s other new recruit Aidy Roxburgh who is also a defender.
