A new Lake District cafe has opened – and its owners hope it will become a must-visit destination for tourists and locals.
Force Walkers Cafe and Terrace in Ambleside was officially opened this week in the former premises of Kelsick Grammar School.
With its prime location overlooking the town, across from Stockghyll Force and views of the surrounding landscape, its owners hope visitors will be captivated.
Force was the brainchild of David Williams, owner and CEO of Impact International and Lake District Country Hotels.

He said: “Force Walkers Cafe and Terrace is the culmination of a passion for local produce and a deep appreciation for the historical significance of this location, with being a student myself in the past.
“We are thrilled to bring this vision to life and share it with the community. Being a walkers café, we can’t wait for visitors to enjoy refreshments with us after a hike up Wansfell or visiting the waterfalls.”

The launch, held on Tuesday evening, was attended by Paul Rose, who officially opened the cafe.
The school – a landmark in Ambleside – has been restored to its former glory.
A Lake District Country Hotels spokesman added: “The restoration efforts, carried out with utmost care and attention to detail, breathe new life into this historical gem, making it an integral part of the cafe’s ambience.”
