Cumbria go back into NCCA Trophy action again on Sunday, at Keswick for a quarter-final tie with Cheshire.
The winners will be away in the semi-final against either Suffolk or Northumberland on 16th July.
Sunday’s clash at Fitz Park will be the second time that Cumbria and Cheshire have met this season.
Cheshire won both the T20 games between the two counties at Netherfield in May but both games were only settled on the last ball. Cheshire winning by 4 runs and six wickets.
Awarded their Player of The Day was Matt Carter who will not be available as he will be playing for his principal county Nottinghamshire in the Vitality Blast.
Cheshire come to Keswick as heavy favourites despite only qualifying second in their group, and scrambling through on run rate after their match was abandoned and denied Shropshire the chance of finishing ahead of them.
Not only have they beaten Cumbria twice this season already but over the 21 times the two side have met in the One Day Trophy since 1983, Cumbria have won only four times (Cheshire 14) with three matches abandoned or no-result.
However, Cumbria are in good heart after four wins in their group matches topped by an early finish (fortunately, with rain arriving) on Sunday after Lincolnshire had been bowled out for 65, their lowest Trophy score and also the lowest score against Cumbria in the Trophy by any county side since the competition began.
Cheshire will be led by ex-Leicestershire player Harry Dearden and amongst their top scorers this season are Henry Dobson and Sam Perry who like Dearden are both ex-Lancashire Academy.
Their strong County Premier League structure has provided many young players for Lancashire’s Cricket Academy over recent years, more than any other local cricket league. All-rounder and ex-captain Nick Anderson is their leading wicket taker.
For Cumbria, Chris Wright is still unavailable after he missed the last game playing County Championship cricket for Leicestershire this week. But two players do return, wicket keeper Drew Postlethwaite and opener Freddie Fallows both of whom also missed the Lincolnshire match.
Cumbria: Michael Slack (Carlisle, capt), Sam Dutton (Furness), Freddie Fallows (Kendal), Ben Walkden (Newton-le-WIllows), Gary Pratt (Richmondshire), Matthew Sempill (Cockermouth), Ed Moulton (Chorley), Drew Postlethwaite (Haverigg, wk), Sam Sharp (Cockermouth), Nico Watt (Carlisle), Matthew Siddall (Cockermouth).
Cheshire: Harry Dearden (Edgworth capt), Ben Kohler-Cadmore (Alderley Edge), Henry Dobson (Oxton), Sam Perry (Alderley Edge, wk), Alex Money (Chester Boughton Hall), Nick Anderson (Didsbury), Chris Sanders (Cavaliers & Carrington), Luke Young (Hyde), Jack Williams (Chester Boughton Hall), Steve Green (Didsbury), Joe Cooke (Moorside)
The match is scheduled to start at the slightly later time than normal of 11.30am.
