The most expensive house in Cockermouth is now for sale – and could be yours for £649,950.
The home, part of the Lovell Homes estate off Low Road, is being marketed by the developer as the property with the biggest price tag in town.
The five-bedroom house, it says, “far exceeds what is available just a few miles away within the Lake District National Park boundary”.
The estate, called Roman Heights, has had strong interest from people wishing to relocate from London, Lovell Homes said.

Anne-Marie O’Doherty, regional sales director at Lovell Homes, said: “Over the past few years, we have seen more people eager to escape the busy city life, for areas that offer greater access to the outdoors and more scenic places to spend time.
“We’ve even had people relocating from London, highlighting the pull of the Lake District and how far homebuyers are willing to move for a slice of rural tranquillity. Roman Heights holds exciting possibilities for families ready to make that move.”

According to Rightmove, the cheapest property in the market town is a two-bedroom flat on Irene Court, just behind Main Street, available for £94,950.
