It was great this week to catch up with an old mate, former Workington Town hooker Howard Allen, for a chat about old times.
Howard – known to all and sundry as Smiler – has some great tales to tell from his time as a professional with Workington Town, Blackpool and Barrow.
He also coached in amateur rugby league with the likes of Ellenborough and Westfield, but these days is more likely to be found pottering around his Workington allotment than watching any rugby league.
