A woman has been banned from a Workington churchyard as police crack down on anti-social behaviour and criminality in an area of the town.
Dionne Mongelard, 41, is the second person to have an injunction in relation to the same area of the town – around Station Road. In May, Brett Dempster, 42, had an injunction granted against him.
Mongelard is subject of the injunction until a further order is made in relation to a specific address on Station Road, Workington.
The injunction prevents her from doing the following at the address:
- Engaging in conduct which causes a nuisance or annoyance
- Engaging in conduct likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress in the area of a specified address on Station Road
- Not permit any persons visiting a specified address between 9pm and 7am
- Mongelard must also not enter St Michael’s churchyard at any time without the express written permission of the reverend in charge.
Cumbria police’s Allerdale Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We are pleased that the court granted this injunction to disrupt and help improve the quality of life of those in the area.
“Without the evidence provided by partners and residents we would not have been able to act and achieve some of the effective outcomes.
“These injunctions assist us in managing individual’s behaviour, and if they breach these conditions, they will face rearrest, and the courts will have greater powers in which to sentence.”
The injunction carries a power of arrest.
Anyone who is aware of a breach of the injunction is urged to contact police online at www.cumbria.police.uk/report-it or call 101.
