New Zealand international Fuifui Moimoi is set to make a sensational appearance for Millom on Saturday.
The 42-year-old Tongan is visiting Cumbria over the weekend to attend a Christening and has been released by his last professional club Rochdale Hornets.
Millom treasurer Gary Kelly said: “He is still to be registered but we believe he could even be training with us before the game on Saturday.
“This season his nephew Naki Saumaki has been playing for us in the Conference League after moving to Kirkby Lonsdale to be with his girlfriends. He has done well, scoring regularly in the centre.
“Then last week his cousin Hosea Saumaki made his debut, scoring a terrific try with virtually his first touch. He had been playing last season for Leicester Tigers.
“When Naki’s baby’s Christening was set up for this Sunday and Fuifui was invited it was said he would be staying overnight on Saturday so the chance to play alongside his nephews seemed a good idea.
“We so have a couple missing this weekend so it will be useful. He can be registered right up to kick off so there will be no problem.”
Moimoi was actually born in Tonga and had represented his country nine times before switching to New Zealand where he was brought up and for whom he played 13 times.
He spent 10 years in Australia where he played 201 times for Parramatta Eels and first came to Britain in 2015 to join Leigh Centurions.
After 45 games he joined Toronto Wolfpack and in two seasons made 20 appearances before signing for Workington Town in 2018. He went on to play 43 times for Town, scoring 13 tries.
In 2021 and 2022 Moimoi played for Rochdale, clocking up 13 more senior appearances before apparently retiring from the pro game.
It’s a big game for the Woolybacks on Saturday as they host joint leaders Leigh East.
