Former Barrow utility player Joe Grayson is hoping for a fresh start in the National League with Hartlepool.
The 24-year-old can operate in defence or midfield and spent two seasons with Barrow before being released.
He looked surplus to requirements last season when Pete Wild sent him out on loan to Dundee and latterly to Stockport, before he was officially released.
Grayson had learnt his trade at Blackburn Rovers without breaking into the first team but he did spend time on loan from Ewood Park with both Grimsby Town and Oxford United.
He joined Barrow in 2021 and played 33 times for the Bluebirds, finding the net twice for them.
He’s on loan at Hartlepool alongside Dillon De Silva, 21, who left QPR when his contract expired in June.
De Silva linked up with QPR in 2017 after spells at Tottenham Hotspur and Barking and was a regular for the London club at various youth levels.
He was given the green light to head to Torquay United on loan last term to get some game time under his belt and he ended up making 19 league appearances during his spell at Plainmoor, chipping in with three goals.
Both De Silva and Grayson will be hoping to impress Hartlepool’s new boss John Askey during their trials. The Pools played Middlesbrough last week and ended up beating Michael Carrick’s side 2-1 before drawing 0-0 with fellow non-league outfit Blyth Spartans over the weekend.
