Former Whitehaven winger Andrew Bulman has signed a new two-year deal with Barrow Raiders.
The contract extension will see him remain at the club until at least the end of the 2025 season.
Bulman, 23, first joined the Raiders in January ahead of the current campaign and the former Hull FC winger had previously enjoyed a successful spell at Whitehaven.
Despite spending a number of weeks sidelined through injury this season, Bulman is hopeful that a consistent run of games moving forward will enable him to replicate the form which saw him first catch the eye of the Raiders.
After signing his deal Bulman said: “I am happy to be staying for another two seasons. I like the club’s ambition to be a top side, and it’s something I want to be a part of.
“Another reason why I want to stay is I feel I have a lot more to offer than I’ve shown this season. I want to be consistently playing at my best and showing what I’m all about.
“There’s a good vibe around the place at the moment, and I think we can really kick on during these last eight games and secure Championship rugby for next season.”
Barrow Raiders head coach Paul Crarey said: “Andrew has had a very interrupted season following his signing from Whitehaven.
“He had a serious head knock in one of the early games and it was a worrying time for both Andrew and his family. He has slowly got himself back to fitness, and we are now seeing what he is capable of.
“We believe we are going to see him finish the season real strong, and with a good pre season we expect him to really kick on next year and fulfil his undoubted potential.”
Chairman Steve Neale said: “We are delighted to get Andrew signed up. He continues to improve game by game and we are convinced that he will prove to be a massive asset to the club in his second season.
“Whilst we won’t be breaking the bank in our spending, our full intention is to assemble a competitive Championship squad and Andrew fits the bill as a proven Championship-quality player.”
Director of rugby Andy Gaffney said: “When we first brought in Andrew, we knew all about the qualities he could bring to our team.
“Although his 2023 season has been a little disrupted by injury, as a club we are confident that he can really take his game to new heights in 2024 and beyond.”
